Good Purim
So, we are now at the deepest Yom Tov of the Jewish calendar, Purim. It portrays open expression of Simcha and Joy, where even the most uptight person loosens up a bit, throws down his daily frown and reveals his inner love to Hashem, the Torah and every Yid.
We open our houses to let starngers in, we open our wallets to give to others we never met. We don’t judge anyone based on which mask they chose, for we know what lies beneath that face of latex or plastic, a Yid.
It’s then when Hashem comes out of his hiding place and shows us his face, full of love for Am Yisrael. And, all he asks from his children is “Hashmeini Es Koleich” let me hear your voice, “Ki Koleich Oreiv, Umarech Naveh” Because your voice is so sweet, and your face is beautiful.
So, let us all open up our hearts this coming Purim, and bestow our generousity and emotions to our fellow brethern and try to stay with some leftovers for the year to to come.

Seasonal Trees of Life

Ushering in a new year for the trees is also a very exciting time for us humans. "Ki hu'udam eitz hasuda" the toira compares a person to a tree. In that case, Tu B'shvat is a chance for a fresh start for people too. The dreariest part of winter, when the trees are barren and gray, is the turning point for all foliage. It is then that their buds begin to sprout; soon to blossom and bloom to full fruition. So too, shall we be. It may have been a difficult year in general, and financially in specific. But when it seems that all is barren and frozen, that's the last step before dramatic change.
When spring arrives, and the mountains are majestically cloaked in color, take a closer look at that grand panorama. Each tree is thriving individually, and adds its uniqueness to the total scene. With every smile you give, and with the words of encouragement you dispense, you add to the glory and power of am yisrael. |
